Dermaplaning in Harrow
Dermaplaning is a gentle physical exfoliation that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from your face, leaving it instantly smoother and brighter. It's one of the quickest treatments we offer at our Harrow clinic.

What is dermaplaning?
Using a sterile surgical scalpel, your therapist carefully glides across the skin surface at a 45-degree angle. This removes the top layer of dead cells and the fine facial hair that traps dirt and oils. The result is immediately smoother skin with better product absorption.
Benefits
Instantly smoother skin, brighter complexion, better makeup application, improved absorption of skincare products, no downtime. It also creates an excellent base for other treatments like peels or serums.
Who is it for?
Almost everyone. Dermaplaning is safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin. It's particularly popular before special events because the results are instant. Not recommended during active acne breakouts.
What to expect
We cleanse your skin, then gently work across each zone of your face with the scalpel. After dermaplaning, we apply a soothing serum and SPF. The treatment takes about 30 minutes.
Aftercare
Your skin will be slightly more sensitive to the sun for a few days, so SPF is essential. Avoid retinol and strong acids for 24 to 48 hours. The hair grows back at the same rate and texture. It does not grow back thicker.
Dermaplaning FAQ
Will the hair grow back thicker?+
No, this is a myth. Vellus hair is different from terminal hair. Dermaplaning doesn't change the hair follicle, so it grows back exactly the same.
Can I have dermaplaning with acne?+
Not during an active breakout, as the blade could spread bacteria. Once your skin has calmed down, it's a great option. We'll advise.
How often should I get dermaplaning?+
Every 3 to 4 weeks is ideal, matching your skin cell turnover cycle.
